You can configure Draftable Legal to remove unwanted comparison types and outputs, or suggest or enforce the type users start with on the New Comparison screen. To learn more about Comparison Types and their use, please see this article.
From version 26.10.0, the old InitialComparisonOutput registry value has no effect and is not migrated automatically. Replace it with the Default comparison type policy (AdminDefaultComparisonOutput). If the default must apply to existing users, also set Default comparison type enforcement (AdminDefaultComparisonOutputStrategy) to Enforce (locked).

Set a default comparison type

Available from version 26.10.0 Use the Draftable Legal Group Policy templates for version 26.10.0 or later. The two policies are available in both User Configuration and Computer Configuration: Suggest (users can change it) is the default strategy. It applies only when a user has no usable saved default. In practice, this usually means a fresh user profile, because older versions already saved a default for existing users. It does not replace an existing usable preference. Users can change their default in Settings. Enforce (locked) applies the configured default to existing and new users and locks Settings > Compare Selector > Workflow > Default comparison type, showing Set by your organisation. Users can still select another type for a single comparison. The next comparison starts from the enforced default. The enforcement policy requires a configured, available comparison type. If the type is unavailable because of licensing or disabled outputs, Draftable skips it. If only the loaded files are incompatible, Draftable temporarily uses an available alternative without changing the default.

Configure the policies in the Windows Registry

Both values are REG_SZ under Software\Policies\Draftable\Feature. Use HKCU for a user policy or HKLM for a computer policy. If both are set, the user policy takes precedence.
DefaultComparisonOutput is now a user-only preference. A value with that name in a policy hive is ignored. Use the two AdminDefaultComparisonOutput policies above to manage defaults. For the user setting and temporary fallback behaviour, see Setting a default comparison type.

Remove unwanted comparison types and outputs

Many organizations exclusively use either Tracked Changes or Redline in Word as their preferred word output. Likewise, organizations will often have a preference for either Redline in Excel, Side by Side or MS Office Native for Excel comparisons. With this in mind, organizations can configure Draftable Legal to only provide those Comparison Types and outputs needed by their users. This can be done via Group Policy or in the Windows Registry.

Remove options through Group Policy

Set the relevant policy below to Disabled to remove its comparison type or export option. Changes Report and AI-Ready Redline are export options, not choices for the default comparison type. The Enable Changes Report policy controls Changes Report export availability. For Word and PDF redline comparisons, the redline profile must also allow Changes Report. Enable AI-Ready Redline Output controls the Markdown export option.
