The side-by-side comparison settings allow users to configure the contents and experience of side-by-side comparisons. Draftable Legal has a dedicated side-by-side comparison settings section, which provides many options so that your comparisons appear the way you want them to.

Accessing side-by-side comparison options
Open the settings menu via the taskbar
- Right-click the Draftable Legal icon in the taskbar
- Select Settings as the 2nd option
Open the settings menu via the new comparison window
- Open the New Comparison window
- Select Settings in the top right of the window
Then in settings, go to the Side by Side tab. Here you have access to all the options that allow you to configure the appearance and contents of your comparisons.
Comparison options
Comparison options can be controlled by the user to control how the comparison behaves and looks.
Ignore changes inside Headers and Footers: Setting this will instruct the comparison not to detect content within headers and footers which include page numbering changes. This is an experimental feature that may not provide full accuracy.
Enable moves: This setting allows you to toggle the 'moves' detection, which detects whether content has been moved positionally between the documents.
Font size sensitivity: This setting allows you to set the threshold for font size detection (style changes) within side-by-side comparisons
- Sensitive: Detects all changes in font size
- Somewhat sensitive: Detects only changes in font size that is at least 1pt greater
- Significant: Detects only changes in font size that is at least 2pt greater
Viewer options
There are specific options for the viewer itself for side-by-side comparisons.
Change list default state: This sets the default state for the change list that is shown when viewing comparisons.
- Open: The change list is displayed within the viewer by default
- Closed: The change list is hidden within the viewer by default
Default view mode: This sets the default state for the viewer mode that is shown when viewing comparisons.
- Side-by-side view: The viewer shows both old and new documents side by side to each other, showing changes in each document compared to each other
- Single document view: The viewer combines both documents into a single document view showing changes within the single document
Default changes shown: This sets the default state for the change list that is shown when viewing comparisons.
- Content changes only: This option lets you focus only on modifications in text or data, ignoring purely stylistic transformations like font changes.
- Content and Style changes: With this setting, Draftable will highlight both content changes as well as alterations in style, page layout, and font.
Changes Markup: This sets the default state for the change list that is shown when viewing comparisons.
- Legacy theme: Where Deletions are Red, Insertions are Green and Moves are Blue.
- Default theme: Where Deletions are Red, Insertions are Blue, and Moves are Green.
