.docx file with a PDF, in either order, or two PDFs. Comparisons that involve older Word .doc or macro-enabled .docm files continue to use the previous engine, and so do Word-to-Word comparisons.
What changes in your results
The new engine matches text by content, reducing false blocks of deleted and inserted text caused by layout differences, such as a table in one document appearing as paragraphs in the other. When you compare a Word.docx file with a PDF, Draftable keeps the Word document’s structure for the output.
It handles moved text, tables, headers and footers, footnotes, comments, text boxes and images. It also recognizes visually identical images that have been re-encoded, reducing false image changes.
Results can look different from earlier versions even when you compare the same two documents. PDF-to-PDF results can still contain small fragments shown as separate deletions and insertions, particularly around tables.
How redline profile options apply
For these.docx-to-PDF and PDF-to-PDF redlines, these redline profile options behave differently:
Style changes are not compared, and there is no separate cover-page comparison. Numbering and tables of contents are compared as visible text rather than as structured document elements.
See Redline comparison settings for the profile controls.
If a result looks wrong
Send Draftable Support both input documents, a short description of the unexpected result and your error-logs ZIP file.1
Export your error logs
Open Settings > Help & Troubleshooting and select Export error logs. Save the ZIP file.
2
Describe the problem
Identify the affected page or clause and explain what you expected to see. Include this description with both documents and the error-logs ZIP so Support can investigate the same comparison.
