Throughout this article, “Citrix and Remote Desktop environments” covers Citrix, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) session hosts, and similar virtual or shared-session setups (including VDI).
Installing in Citrix and Remote Desktop environments
For Citrix and Remote Desktop deployments, use the Machine-Wide MSI (also known as the System-Wide MSI, Native MSI, or Per-Machine MSI). This installs a single shared copy of Draftable Legal that every user on the host can launch, including concurrently — which is exactly what these environments need. The default per-user EXE installer is not suitable for Citrix or Remote Desktop hosts. For full guidance on deploying the Machine-Wide MSI, see:To use the Draftable Outlook add-in and Redline in Email in Citrix or Remote Desktop environments, your deployment must be on Draftable Legal v26.3.0 or later. Earlier versions do not support these features in these environments.
Licensing in Citrix and Remote Desktop environments
Licensing in Citrix and Remote Desktop environments works differently to a standard installation on individual machines. Because of how these environments are structured, your licence needs to be configured specifically for your setup so that every user can activate without being blocked. To make sure this is handled correctly, contact Draftable Support or your account manager before you deploy and let us know:
Once we have these two numbers, we will configure your licence on our end so it is correctly aligned with your environment. There is nothing extra you need to do — just deploy the Machine-Wide MSI and apply your product key as normal.
When your environment changes
Your licence is configured around the number of users and servers you tell us about, so please let us know whenever that changes. Get in touch with Support or your account manager if you:- Add or remove Citrix or Remote Desktop servers
- Change your number of users or seats
