Epona is a leading content management software designed for use across a wide variety of industries.
This article will guide you on how to initiate comparisons by selecting documents from Epona, and how to preserve these comparison exports as outputs within Epona.
Please note: In order to use the features outline in this article, you must first:
Selecting input files from Epona to start a comparison
- Within the Draftable Legal New Comparison Window, click on the Epona option.
- This will launch Epona's file explorer menu, where you can navigate to the file(s) you wish to compare.
- Navigate to your desired file location and click on the document(s) you wish to load into Draftable. Once the document(s) are highlighted click on OK.
- If you would like to load a specific version of a document, simply click on the Select Version option in the New Comparison Window.
- The File versions list will appear. Select the version(s) you wish to compare and click Select.
- Once both documents have been loaded, select your Comparison Type from the drop down menu.
- Start your comparison by clicking Compare button at the bottom of the Window.
Saving comparison outputs to Epona
- First, following the steps above to load your document select into the New Comparison window. Then ensure "Redline In Draftable" is selected as the Comparison Type. Then hit Compare.
- Once the comparison is ready, the Comparison Viewer will appear.
- Select the Save to Epona button in the ribbon at the top of the Comparison Viewer.
- This will bring up the Comparison Results window, which will allow you to select the Format of the file you wish to save, as well as the comparison output.
The options you can choose from are as follows:
Redline: This saves a .pdf or .docx file where all changes are marked or "redlined" over the base document. This layout allows for easy visual comparison between the original and new versions of the document.
Changed Pages Only: This is similar to the Redline option, but it only includes pages where changes have occurred. This is a useful feature if you're dealing with lengthy documents and you want to focus just on the pages with modifications. You can only save this output as a .pdf file.
Tracked Changes: This saves into a .docx file with all updates embedded as 'Tracked Changes' in Microsoft Word. This is useful for further editing or reviewing in Word, as you can accept or reject changes individually and keep a record of who made what changes and when.
Changes Report: This saves a .csv or docx file with either all the changes from the comparison or if a filter has been used, just the changes that match the filter output.
- Once you have chosen the output format you wish to save, click on the arrow (->) to bring up the DMSforLegal 'Save As' window. By default, this will open in the Epona location where the newer input file was selected from the New Comparison Window. If this is not where you wish to save the output, you can navigate through your Epona folders to the desired location to save the file, as well as edit the filename and create new folders.
- Enter the relevant details and select ‘Ok’. Your document has now been saved to Epona.
